Caring Support Ministries

Alzheimer's Care & Support
Provides a ministry of comfort to patients and caregivers. Alzheimer's patients participate in a variety of activities at a Gathering held monthly.
Respite care for Alzheimer's patients is provided during support group meetings for their caregivers. The support group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Blood Donor Program
The Blood Donor program coordinates quarterly congregational blood drives to provide the gift of life. Each donation saves 3 lives.
Cancer Support Group
This group meets the first and third Thursday evenings from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Connection Center, Room CC462. Those attending share concerns, gain strength and helpful information. Facilitated by Dr. Franklin Olson, a cancer survivor himself, the group is open to both genders, all ages and all types of cancer patients.
Caring Prayer
Prayer requests are received by the church office and are forwarded to this group of more than 50 members, who have agreed to remember and lift these person or situations in their prayers.
Chronic Pain & Illness Support Group
This group focuses on prayer, meditation, information, and peer support, for those who are struggling with chronic pain and illness.
Divorce Care
This program is for persons going through separation or divorce, with discussions on emotions, childcare, financial issues, forgiveness, new relationships and more. DivorceCare for Kids runs concurrently with the adult program and covers topics from a child’s perspective.
Family & Friends of Gays & Lesbians
This is a support group for parents, siblings or others with a relationship with loved ones who have declared their homosexuality.
Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous
This is a 12-step recovery program for men and women of all ages who are struggling with obesity, anorexia, bulimia or obsessed with food or weight.
Funeral Guild
Trained lay persons serve in a hosting and welcoming role during funerals and memorial services.
Grief Share
This program is designed for those who are grieving the death of a loved one and provides the opportunities for participants to share with and support others experiencing similar emotions and life changes.
Lay Hospital Visitation
This ministry remembers those in hospitals through personal caring visits to those who are ill or recovering from illness.
Medical Equipment
Wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, etc. are stored at the church and loaned to church members in need of them.
Medical Transportation
Transportation is arranged for those who are unable to drive themselves to doctors, dentists and other health-related appointments.
Monday Callers
Voices of cheer and concern create smiles for those who were discharged from hospitals the previous week.
Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are a group of trained laypersons who provide confidential, distinctively Christian, one-to-one care to those who are experiencing many kinds of life needs, circumstances or crises. For more detailed information about Stephen Ministry, click here.
Stroke Group
This is a support group for stroke patients and their caregivers. The weekly meeting offers a safe place for people to speak and listen to others with similar experiences. The group also offers exercise and social opportunities.
Sunday Morning Transportation
Transportation is made available, when possible, to those who would otherwise be unable to attend worship services.
Support for Victims of Romantic Deception
If someone you loved lied to you about their education or careers, if you discovered other ongoing relationship while they pledged their commitment to you, or has someone you loved stolen large sums of money from you—then maybe you, or someone you know, is the victim of romantic deception. Come heal and grow with others who support and encourage one another. We will begin meeting on the last Wednesday of each month in D126 beginning January 31, 2007 from 7:00–8:30 p.m.
You and Your Aging Parents
This four-week course addresses the changes and concerns that may occur in aging parents.
