Welcome to MDUMC!
A JUBILEE MOMENT – MDUMC CELEBRATES FIFTY YEARS OF MINISTRY
On July 13, 1958, led by Rev. D. Lawrence Landrum, Jr., forty-four people gathered for worship at the former Chapman’s Corner Restaurant on Old Katy Road. The church was officially chartered on September 14, 1958. Under the leadership of Rev. Landrum, the church continued to grow and on Christmas Eve 1961 the church’s 400 members met for the first worship service in their new sanctuary on Memorial Drive.
Did you know
Did
you know that the Probers Sunday School class, one of the oldest adult
Sunday School classes at MDUMC, provided a stained glass window in
the Landrum Chapel, in honor of present member Betty Duff, and previous
member Lucy Collins? Both these ladies have been instrumental in growing
and developing Christian education at our church. Landrum Chapel is named
for MDUMC’s first pastor, Laurence Landrum.

Welcome Reverend Daniel and Jean Irving to our church family!
We are thrilled to have Daniel and Jean as
part of our life and work at Memorial Drive. Daniel is a life-long Methodist who grew up
in Katy and did his undergraduate work at SMU. He graduated from Duke in May
with a Masters of Divinity and was commissioned as a provisional Elder at
Annual Conference in late May. Jean will be teaching this fall in Katy ISD.
Rev. Irving will serve MDUMC as Director of Contemporary Worship, Director of
Men’s Ministries, and Intergenerational Ministries. MDUMC is pleased to
have the Irving’s
be part of our family!
