Theater Arts at MDUMC

The mission of the MDUMC Theater Arts Ministry is to provide performance opportunities and theatrical productions, which will incorporate all ages and skill levels, and will provide and/or reinforce spiritual growth for both spectators and participants by supporting liturgical education, outreach, and social aspects of the church.

WHO WE ARE
Theater Arts is one of the many exciting ministries at MDUMC providing a variety of opportunities and challenges for people of all ages and levels of experience. Within the Christian structure - the creation of stage, plays, musicals, dramas, videos, and visual elements - supporting the overall mission of the church come to life through the efforts and talents of our volunteer ministry team. Over the past fifteen years, we have presented a wide range of productions including full length plays, sketch collections, short sketches to support contemporary worship and seasonal programs such as dramas for Christmas and Good Friday, as well as programs to support other MDUMC ministries.

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
We have an experienced core of actors and supporting talents but welcome new participants at all experience levels who want to use or develop their skills and talents in this ministry. We need actors, to be sure, but that’s just the beginning. Add set builders, stage managers, costumers, makeup artists, lighting engineers, video technicians, carpenters, painters – all involved for the love of the stage – and you can join an exciting and energetic team. YOUTH MUSICALS
Theater Arts also includes a vibrant program for presenting Youth Musicals which, when combined with our drama department, delivers the Christian message in new, refreshing and exciting ways.
