What to Expect
The first thing you can expect to find at Memorial Drive UMC is a warm welcome! The people here are truly glad when someone comes to worship or another activity at MDUMC for the first time.
Everywhere you go at MDUMC, you will find people—probably like yourself—who are wanting a growing relationship with God, a church family to call "home" and searching for a way to love God and neighbor.
If you are joining us for Sunday worship at one of the three services in the sanctuary, you will find people ready to worship God in a beautiful setting. There's lovely, and often lively, music from one or more of several choirs. Dr. Simmons is usually the one who delivers the message—a sermon that will inspire you, help put your faith into perspective and make you think. The form of worship and hymn singing invite you to participate fully in praising and worshipping God.
If you attend the contemporary worship service, Live @ 10:55, you will find an atmosphere that is a little more relaxed. People are dressed more casually. There is dynamic music from a praise band. Rev. Taylor leads the worship and delivers a message that fits today's world. You are invited to participate in singing your praise to God along with everyone else.
If you visit Friendship Court after the service, you will find friendly people enjoying coffee and fellowship. You will also find tables with information about learning and service opportunities.
You might want to pick up a copy of MDUMC's newsletter, The Messenger, or the single page Highlights of the Week to find out more about current events, classes and activities.
You may choose to attend Sunday School where there are classes available for all ages and nursery care is available for the youngest members of the church family. Children are grouped by age and grade level. There are many different classes for adults offering traditional Bible studies, topical discussions of faith and life, or other interests.
