About CrossWalk Houston

What is the mission and vision of CrossWalk Houston?

Our mission is to empower our neighbors to reach their full potential by providing educational opportunities, essential tools and the love and support of MDUMC. Our vision is to take the love of God outside the walls of MDUMC and be a loving, empowering and tangible presence at CrossWalk Houston.

Where is CrossWalk Houston and who do we serve?

CrossWalk currently has a small office, computer lab and two training facilities at the Outreach Center of West Houston at 725 Bateswood Dr. (77079).

We serve the greater SBISD area with more of a presence in the 77079 community. We offer ESL classes on two SBISD campuses and hope to expand into other schools.

Are there other organizations CrossWalk Houston is working with in the area?

The main organizations we work with are Literacy Advance of Houston, Spring Branch ISD, Family Point Resources, Outreach Center of West Houston, Harris County Department of Education and area churches.

What courses are taught and how were those chosen?

At CWH we offer a range of ESL classes for adult learners Monday – Thursdays in the mornings and evenings. Basic computer & citizenship courses are available when a class is formed. We recently inherited the Adult Basic Education classes from Literacy Advance. We offer a reading practice group and individual tutoring in reading and writing.

All of our offerings are selected based on the needs of the community we serve.

How can I stay current with what CrossWalk Houston is doing?

There are many ways to serve at CrossWalk Houston.  Email CrossWalk to find out current needs. Thanks in advance for your interest and support!
