Kids in Worship

Sanctuary (Main Campus)

Children's worship packets are available in the Sanctuary entry and has crayons, coloring pages, activity sheets, and other 'busy but quiet' items. Children's Time is offered at 11 AM in the middle of the worship service, and the Wiggle Room is a great option for babies or toddlers that may be disturbing others during the sermon. The room is right around the corner from the sanctuary and also shows the service on a large screen so no one misses the sermon. The room is also a 'Bride's room' for weddings but on Sunday mornings it is the Wiggle Room! Our nursery is staffed with paid caregivers and you can take your child at any time during the worship hour.

The Journey Worship (West Campus)

Children’s activity bulletins with crayons and other entertaining but quiet items are available to the left of the worship space entrance. We love having children attend worship.

Another option for children is Sunday school for ages 2+ at both 9:30 and 11 AM. Parents-please sign kids in prior to worship.

Nurseries for infants and toddlers are staffed with paid caregivers for both hours of worship. Please know you are welcome to bring your child into those rooms AND stay with them if you are uncomfortable leaving them. For those who would prefer to avoid the nursery but have especially “wiggly” children, the service can be viewed live from any of our lobby areas.

Other Suggestions

If your child is learning to attend worship, go over the behavior expectations before the service and keep them simple. Such as:

  1. Restroom before or after worship

  2. We all stand when everyone is standing

  3. We all stop what we are doing when someone is praying

  4. There will be others around us listening

After worship, ask them one thing they noticed or heard. I had a grandmother tell me once when my children were a bit loud in worship "No matter how frustrating it can be to worship with children, the day they are gone, you will miss them."

Wonderfully Made

January 24 and 25, 2020
Registration Opens | November 1, 2019

Wonderfully Made is a Christian Based Human Sexuality Education workshop for fifth and sixth grade boys and girls led by MDUMC Children's Director, Allyson George.  Wonderfully Made addresses many of the questions that older elementary girls and boys have about their physical development and growing awareness of sexuality. Its biblical foundation affirms sexuality as a gift of the God in whose image we have been created – a gift we are to express responsibly. Wonderfully Made affirms the family as the source, for most children, of love and guidance. It acknowledges parents as children’s primary sex educators and strives to support parents as they talk with their children and serve as important role models. This resource addresses issues such as social stereotypes, peer pressure, the influence of the media, and the consequences of irresponsible sexual behavior. It also speaks to some of the issues that young people will face within the next several years and to the importance of learning to make sound decisions.

For more information, contact Allyson George.

 Children’s Weekday School

The Children's Weekday School is a Christ-centered childhood program where children can play, learn, and thrive during their early years—years that are especially critical to a child's later success in learning. We partner with parents to encourage children to learn and grow as they do best -- by touching, seeing, and doing.

When you choose to join the Weekday School community, we will offer you and your children:

•Well-qualified teachers who are required to earn 24 hours of additional Early Childhood Education training every year.
•Excellent Music, Spanish, and Motor Skills instruction in addition to our child-centered individual and group activities.
•Full time extended day options; a Creative After-School Program for those enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade at nearby Spring Branch ISD schools
•Summer camp for children 3 years old through the fifth grade.
•A Christian environment & a parent-friendly atmosphere, with numerous fun family activities and opportunities for social interaction both during and after school hours.
• A positive approach to discipline.
•An established reputation for excellence within the community.

The Weekday School offers classes for children, Infants – Bridge and an after-school program for children in area elementary schools. We offer year-round programs, 2 and 3-day options and summer camps.
